Polycom wireless phones

We now offer the Polycom Spectralink Kirk wireless phone systems as a useful addition to your TelEvolve hosted PBX.  The Kirk phones span a range that will cover any business' needs.  Besides the typical office handsets, we have two industrial models that can stand up to abuse like drops, water splash, dust, and are even certified for use in an explosive atmosphere.  The Kirk 2010 handset is inexpensive with basic features and functionality, and excellent range.

A variety of base units are available to support up to 1500 handsets.  Range is excellent, with one base covering most small businesses or warehouses.  Repeaters and additional bases can be deployed to extend range and capacity of the system.

Because these phones use the well-proven DECT system, they are extremely reliable.  Battery life is measured in days of standby, and most have a full day of talk time.

You can now show your office Caller ID from your cell phone

We've created a way for our customers to be able to show their office Caller ID number and name when they make outbound calls from a cell phone.  This works with any phone that has calling card functionality or with calling card add-on software.  For example, the "Calling Card" application available for the iPhone works great with this.

As usual, this is a no-cost value-added feature for our customers.  To get more information on how to use this, see the FAQ info.

I survived Astricon 2008

The annual Asterisk user's conference is over.  I had my brain filled with exciting things like SS7 and ISDN protocol signalling, the nuances of the PRI protocol stack in Asterisk, and the new T.38 features in Asterisk 1.6.  The T.38 capabilities will allow us to do fax over the internet (FoIP or Fax over VoIP).  This means that we can provide fax numbers anywhere in the US and Canada.  I'll be setting up a test server for this soon.

System upgrades progress

We have all the hardware in place and we are testing the new services.  We're a little bit behind due to installation issues with our new service providers, but moving along.

I've got a list of new features I look forward to sharing with you, along with huge improvements in our technical infrastructure (things you won't see, but which improve quality of service).
