Frequently Asked Questions > What is Voice over IP (VoIP)? How is it different from regular phone lines? > I've heard that VoIP calls sound bad, is this true?
There is nothing in this technology which would sound bad. In fact a properly-designed VoIP system will sound better than regular analog lines. VoIP quality depends on two things; a high-quality internet connection that isn't overloaded, and a high-quality service provider that also is not overloaded.
We will work with you to test your internet connection and can also help you upgrade it if needed. In the Phoenix area we have access to a very cost-effective enterprise class carrier that offers dedicated voice bandwidth. On our end of the process, we maintain our systems at well under 50% of their full capacity, and our connections at under 10% of capacity.
